RunningOutOfBreath (hereby known as the Documentary) helps provide a contour of the factors that relate to breathing, airway, sleep, tethered tissues, narrow palate, etc., and their impact on the wellbeing of infants, children, and young adults. We present a threaded set of perspectives through interviews with medical practitioners from several disciplines, scientific researchers, wellbeing providers, and families / parents of patients, who are volunteering their time to share their learnings and journey to increase public awareness.
The documentary highlights and provides suggestions of possible impacts, causes, and treatments of ankyloglossia (tongue-ties), a condition rapidly prevalent in current and coming generations. It also highlights the importance of optimal airway for breathing, birth, nursing, and chewing factors that may result in difficulties in infants and children. And, it touches on some of the key factors of good sleep and the nervous system that can contribute to overall health and wellbeing. Based on interviews, suggestions on processes and procedures are shared but are not suggested or recommended.
The documentary is not a medical study, scientific research project, nor recommending any medical procedure, or care-taking advice. The goal is to persuade the discussions & connections and is not highlighting any conflict, where someone is looking to change someone else’s mind. There are no medical or professional suggestions or solutions prescribed. No panelist, interviewer or interviewee, researcher, sponsors, members of the documentary team, extras, producers, or advocates, are liable in any way. This documentary is for entertainment purposes only.
The documentary intends to create curiosity, empathy, enable more receptiveness and persuasion by sharing dialogue. RunningOutOfBreath amalgamates research and anecdotal information, an n+1 view of several factors or symptoms that could be deemed inconsequential independently – and when looked at more holistically, they will improve wellness. At its best, this documentary will enable receptiveness to varying views across the many areas of medical and patient care. It will help create a coalition around the wellbeing of patients, reducing any natural tendencies of tribalism in fields or areas of expertise in the healthcare and wellbeing industry. It will bring to the forefront the opportunity to create a two-way street between the parents & patient care professionals, who all want a child to have the best life possible.
The documentary is the work of high school students: Yuvan Rasiah (Lead Anchor & Researcher), Ananya Mathur (Co-Anchor & Researcher), and Laavanya Rasiah (Director of Documentary & Techie) – hereby known as the Documentary Team – alongside several practitioners and professionals who have shared a view of their respective expertise. The documentary includes volunteer time and interviews by a dozen or so practitioners and patients and was sponsored by Slak Chiropractic Center, and produced by Sengol LLC.
Our research and journey has led to more questions than a formula or final conclusions. And perhaps that is the point of RunningOutOfBreath/WiredForWellness – viewing this documentary gives us a sense of questions to consider, areas to explore and connect. It’s certainly very thought provoking.
